July 28, 2012. Lake Michigan/Chicago North Shore from the nose cone of a B-17G. This was my second flight on the “Nine O Nine.”
For those that are inevitably going to ask - this thing shakes and rattles like a hot rod on the tarmac until it gets in the air. The actual flight experience is very slow, gentle, docile - although it is extremely loud and very cramped moving through the fuselage.

Firefighters from several towns hose down the wreckage of the house. There was little left standing after a natural gas explosion.
Yesterday, a gas explosion tore apart this house in my town. Miraculously, no one was killed. The house was not so lucky.
I took this photo in Chinatown in Philly this summer. These ladies were cleaning up the street, and it seemed like an interesting mix of the old world and the new; the traditional headwear contrasting with the modern orange safety vests.
The war-weary soldiers hose off after ‘le guerre gastronomique’! Much ramen was launched, jello rained down from the heavens like a red and green meteor shower, and the purple slush…well, it was the purple slush. We’ll leave it at that.
